The product is glass fibre reinforced and contains mineral fillers. In case of fire the product doesn't melt, neither does it form droplets nor is smoke generation excessive. The material is compression moulded in heated steel moulds. It is recommended to work with chrome plated tools. The product contains no halogens. Menzolit® SMC 1600 is a special SMC for sanitary applications. The glass level has been selected to combine good mouldability with good strength and stiffness properties. The material shows an increased resistance to a wet environment and common household cleaning materials. Typical applications are bath room furnitures, bath tubes and shower pans. Menzolit® SMC 0300 is a low shrink standard SMC providing improved surface quality, reduced shrinkage and warpage. Typical fields of applications are mechanical engineering and electrical industry, where improved dimensional stability and better surface properties are required, e.g. seat shells, covers or functional components. The flammability meets the demands of standard UL 94 category HB. Despite the low shrinkage, a homogeneous pigmentation is possible. The glass content has been adjusted to a level combining good mouldability with good mechanical properties.
