变色聚合物检测细小裂缝可用于汽车安全

据科技网站Gizmag报道,近日,伊利诺伊大学的科学家研制出一种聚合物涂层,能够尽早发现各种材料上的微小裂缝或损坏。该项物质可用于汽车,帮助发现车辆内部的微小裂缝与损坏,避免安全事故的发生。 该聚合物由伊利诺伊大学Nancy Sottos和Scott White两位教授带领的科研小组研发,其内部含有环氧树脂微胶囊,胶囊内填充有淡黄色的ph敏感性颜料。正常情况下微胶囊保持完整状态,但是一旦有裂缝产生,微胶囊就会破裂,并释放出颜料;颜料与环氧树脂会发生化学反应,颜色由淡黄变为鲜
